Warrior Caverns Launch Week: 40 Years in the Making!
What an incredible week it has been for Warrior Caverns!
After 40 years, a game that began as a dream in 1986 has finally been released for the Atari 8-bit computer. What started as an old game design, rediscovered source code, and a desire to finish something I began four decades ago has turned into something much bigger than I ever expected.

Warrior Caverns was finally ready for release.
Getting the game finished was only half the adventure. We also had to build the Crater Monkey website, create the digital download package, finish the instruction manual, produce a gameplay trailer, and prepare everything needed to introduce the game to the Atari community.
There were plenty of challenges along the way, but seeing Warrior Caverns available for purchase for the first time made all that work worthwhile.
An Incredible Response!
One of the biggest surprises of launch week has been the response from the retro gaming community.
Sales of the digital edition have been strong right out of the gate, exceeding my initial expectations. Even more exciting has been hearing from people who have actually played the game.
The feedback has been incredibly encouraging. After spending so much time developing and testing Warrior Caverns, it’s especially rewarding to see other players exploring the caverns, discovering secrets, battling monsters, and experiencing the game for themselves.
It’s one thing to finish a game you’ve dreamed about for 40 years. It’s something entirely different to know that other people are enjoying it!
What’s Next? The Physical Edition!
While the digital release is an important milestone, there’s another exciting chapter already underway.
We’ve officially started production of the physical cartridge edition of Warrior Caverns!
The plan is to produce a limited run of just 250 individually numbered copies, each featuring an Atari-compatible cartridge, a professionally printed box, an instruction manual, and a personal letter telling the story behind the game.
Each box will be numbered from 1 to 250, making this first physical release something special for collectors and Atari enthusiasts.
The cartridges have been ordered, and we’re now working through the final packaging designs and production details.
Thank You!
When I started working on Warrior Caverns again, my goal was simple: finish the game I designed in 1986 and finally see it running on the Atari computers I loved growing up.
I never imagined how much enjoyment I would get from the process, or how encouraging the response would be once the game was released.
To everyone who has purchased the game, shared the trailer, offered encouragement, or taken the time to play it, thank you!
This has been an unforgettable launch week, and we’re just getting started.
The caverns are open. The adventure has begun!
